GOT HEEL PAIN?

Heel pain can be caused by many different conditions, some of them in combination. However, a very common cause of heel pain, plantar fasciatis, which can be treated very successfully with custom functional orthotics (better than 95% of the time in our practice), at times requires surgical intervention (that stubborn 5%). The old standard procedure has a history of potential complications that can lead to suboptimal results. This led to the development of the Endoscopic Plantar Fasciotomy (EPF), a truly elegant procedure.

Extra Corporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT)

ESWT is an innovative non-invasive (non-surgical) technique for the treatment of plantar fasciitis(heel spur pain).

This procedure only takes about 20 minutes to perform and involves no invasive surgery. You can return to regular activities faster than any other heel pain procedure!

No incisions.
No stitches.
No casts.
No bone or ligament surgery.
No more heel pain.*

What is ESWT and How Does it Work?

Shockwave therapy is known for it use in treating kidneys stones. In October, 2000 the FDA issued approval of ESWT in the treatment of plantar fasciatis . Shockwave therapy is beneficial for the treatment of chronic orthopedic and podiatric conditions.

Shockwaves work by causing microtrauma to the afflicted area. This in turn leads to increased blood flow to the area that triggers the body's repair abilities to create ligament healing. The shockwaves stimulate the nerves to reduce the sensitivity and pain.

The device utilized by Dr. Radovic produces a wide range of low-to-high energy shockwaves allowing the energy to be focused on the plantar fascia. The intensity and frequency of the shockwaves of pulses are then gradually and incrementally increased.

E.S.W.T. offers...

One time non-surgical treatment for relief of heel pain caused by Plantar Fasciitis.
Ultrasound guided Second Generation Shockwave Therapy (involves direct visualization of the affected painful area on a video screen). NO other device on the market can do this.
The ability to return to your normal daily activities without long recoveries or disability.
Years of experience in the field of Shock Wave technology originally used for kidney stone disintegration.

Approved by the FDA. Dr. Radovic is one of a few surgeons in the U.S. trained and certified to perform this new procedure.

Who Should Consider ESWT?

ESWT treatment is for patients who have had chronic plantar fasciitis for at least six months and who have tried other treatment methods. Other methods of treatment may include the use of orthotics, physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medicine and cortisone injections.

* FDA studies show that 81% of patients with plantar fasciitis pain treated with ESWT showed a significant improvement within 6-12 weeks of a single treatment. Patients treated with ESWT in the FDA trials had heel pain at least 6 months before ESWT which had not responded to other conservative treatments.
