Advancement in surgical techniques developed and utilized by Dr. Radovic has resulted in a virtually painless bunion surgery. The vast majority of them are virtually pain-free during and after this surgical correction.
A thorough, proper evaluation is necessary in order to determine if you are a candidate for this procedure because not all deformities can fit the criteria for it. Every bunion deformity is different and standard procedures need to be customized for each individual patient's specific condition.
The procedure allows for a more rapid return to regular activities in shoe gear with a cosmetically pleasing result. It is performed without general anesthesia as an outpatient surgery,"come and go," usually lasting less than one hour in the operating room.
Limited walking is allowed immediately in a surgical shoe. Most patients are in athletic shoes at about three weeks postoperatively. Gone are the days of great pain/disability or giving up heels and athletic activities after a bunion surgery. Athletes can return to activity not only much sooner, but the level of participation prior to surgery can be regained.
